The Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) continues to be a highly successful research department as per data compiled by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. The 2015 federal fiscal year which ended September 30, 2015 ranks DPHS number 2 across the entire Miller School of Medicine (MSOM) with $11,302,809 awarded in NIH dollars and among the basic science departments at MSOM, DPHS continues to rank at number 1. In a national comparison of the 49 departments of public health sciences, DPHS at MSOM ranks number 8. DPHS continues to rank within the top 10 of NIH recipients which demonstrates that we are indeed a strong research department.
