Among those appointed to the Safer Dating Advisory Board is Tali Elfassy, Ph.D., research assistant professor of epidemiology at the Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Public Health Sciences, Aniruddha Hazra, M.D., internal medicine and infectious diseases physician certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and Melissa Sharp, Ph.D., an epidemiologist and postdoctoral fellow at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland with expertise in meta-research and observational mixed-methods research.
“Given the realities of the COVID-19 timeline, providing common sense and scientifically sound guidelines for dating during the pandemic are needed to help minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission. I am delighted to contribute to the Safer Dating Advisory Board,” said Dr. Elfassy.
Dr. Elfassy, Dr. Hazra, and Dr. Sharp will consult dating products, provide safer dating guidance, and help shape the company’s response to the novel coronavirus amid the ongoing pandemic. They will also counsel The Meet Group, as well as share the latest research on how to continue to build solutions across platforms to connect its users.
On Thursday, July 23, at 11:30 a.m. the Internet Dating Excellence Association will host a public webinar – Dare to Date: Dating in a Time of Pandemic – led by the Safer Dating Advisory Board. The webinar will discuss strategizing how to minimize harm, share dating survey data, as well as assess the risk of dating during the COVID-19 pandemic.
