Dr. Moreno's expertise and commitment to public health sciences will be invaluable as the Council addresses various issues through its standing and AD HOC committees. These committees are instrumental in shaping the academic and research directions of the Miller School of Medicine.

“I am thrilled to serve on the Medical Faculty Council to help amplify the voice of our department in the Miller School of Medicine. We must actively participate in governance to support our mission and advance our research, teaching, and public health goals,” said Dr. Moreno.

The Council, which meets bi-monthly with at least one monthly meeting with the Dean, is the elected representative body of the Miller School of Medicine. It plays a critical role in the school's governance, focusing on academic planning, educational and research policy, and the overall welfare of the institution. The Council operates under the University of Miami Faculty Manual and is responsible for establishing bylaws and guidelines that govern the school's policies.

Dr. Moreno emphasized the importance of faculty involvement in the Council: “By participating in a representative body with voting power, faculty can directly influence educational and research policy and planning at the Miller School of Medicine.”

Her new role on the Council will allow Dr. Moreno to bring her expertise and perspective to the forefront, contributing to the institution's mission to foster innovation and excellence in healthcare. The Council's efforts, supported by Dr. Moreno's active participation, will help shape the future of medical education and research at the Miller School of Medicine.

The Department of Public Health Sciences looks forward to Dr. Moreno's contributions and is confident that her involvement will significantly impact the school's ongoing pursuit of excellence.
